What is NFC technology?
NFC (Near Field Communication) technology is a short range wireless communication system which allows data exchange between devices. It generally works at distances of up to 10 cm, although it is more common for it to work at less than 4 cm.
No complicated setup required. Simply bring the devices close together to connect or transfer data. Operating at close range, it is less susceptible to interception. Many NFC systems use encryption for added security.
How NFC technology is used in cell phones
NFC technology in cell phones is used in a variety of ways, facilitating various functions and services. Here are some of its main uses:
- Mobile payments: You store your credit or debit cards in apps like Google Pay, Apple Pay, or Samsung Pay. When you’re at a store that accepts NFC payments, you simply hold your phone close to the payment terminal.

- Connecting to devices: By bringing your phone close to compatible devices, such as speakers or headphones, you can quickly pair them without any complicated setup.
