“Alienation”: The many pitfalls of growing up

The premiere, directed by Nele Neitzke, head of the “Junge Theater”, is on January 17th.

The play tells of growing up, gender norms, the blessings and dangers of the internet and finally simply about a young person in search of herself: Nikola takes the audience with her camera into her world, which is currently upside down.

She feels like an alien. Her classmates seem like zombies to her, and her parents have decided—without asking her—to move. So Nikola dives into the internet: looking for like-minded people and a place where she can feel at home.

With actress Isabella Campestrini (Nikola), the audience is immersed in a complex, multi-layered universe through virtual and real worlds created in cooperation with the University of Applied Sciences Upper Austria. Nele Neitzke: “Between vlogs, mobile phone videos and virtual reality, we talk about the ever-changing feeling of young people of not wanting to conform to a norm.” The equipment comes from Grieskirchner Karin Waltenberger.
