First interview in two years: Melania Trump talks about her relationship

For the first time in two years, former First Lady Melania Trump (54) gave an interview again. On the occasion of the publication of her memoirs on October 8th, wife Donald Trump (78) revealed previously unknown details about her marriage to the former US president. “It’s time for me to tell my story – and the truth,” said Melania.

Unusual first date

In the interview, Melania Trump looks back on the beginnings of her relationship with Donald Trump. Melania reveals how unusual her first date with her now husband was. Because the two didn’t meet in a restaurant, café or cinema: the entrepreneur took Melania with him to a property that he was planning to buy. Apparently it wasn’t a problem for Melania: it was “very nice”.

“Because we were alone in the car for about an hour or an hour and a half. No other noises, no other people,” said Melania. “He was already known as a celebrity at the time, so it was really nice to just be alone with him.” Melania Trump also reveals that she immediately felt a connection with him. “I loved the vision he had. And the connection we had. It was very special.”

When she got engaged, she knew nothing of political ambitions

Melania also talks about her engagement to the entrepreneur in 2004 in the interview: “It was my birthday. And it was the Met Gala. All in one evening. We were already at home, both in gala outfits. Then he proposed made.”

According to Melanie, her husband did not reveal his political ambitions at the time. “We didn’t talk about it at the time.” Only a little later did he mention that he wanted to get involved in politics. When asked what she thinks about her husband running for president again, Melania finds clear words: “I support him.” So far, the former first lady had barely appeared during the election campaign and had not given a speech at the Republican convention. She was also not present at the debate with Democrat Kamala Harris (59).

Donald Trump wanted more children, Melania didn’t

What she loves about her husband is “his humor, his personality, his friendliness, he is very special. His positivity. His energy. It’s incredible,” enthuses Melania. In January 2005, Melania and Donald Trump married. Their son Barron (18) was born around a year later.

The couple did not have any more children, although Donald Trump apparently would have wanted more, as Melania revealed in the interview. “It was always perfect for me,” said the 54-year-old. Donald “encouraged her to have more.” “But I said that I’m completely happy with a child because it’s a very busy life. And I know how busy he is. And I’m responsible for everything. So it’s just perfect.”
