Since George Clooney met his current wife Amal, he seems to have arrived. The two are now celebrating their tenth wedding anniversary.
At the beginning of September they celebrated with the fans in Venice, now Amal (46) and George Clooney (63) will certainly pop the corks in private. The human rights lawyer and the Hollywood star celebrate their tenth wedding anniversary on September 27th.
The Clooney couple protects their private life
According to media reports, immediately after their appearance at the Venice Film Festival, the two returned to their quiet life in France with their seven-year-old twins Ella and Alexander, who were born in June 2017. For the Clooneys, protecting their privacy seems to be the key to their happiness in love.
They have apparently found the right place for this: in 2021, the first reports emerged that Clooney was buying a winery in the south of France, including a swimming pool and tennis court. However, this is not the family’s only retreat. The Hollywood star owns properties in Los Angeles, on Lake Como in Italy, in Los Cabos, Mexico and in Oxfordshire, England.
The withdrawn family life seems to suit Clooney and his marriage well. “George loves the situation he’s in.” “He enjoys what he does and has no plans to retire, but he also knows that there are more important things in the world than making films.” It’s not easy for the 63-year-old to live his life away from the spotlight: “Many people – even those who have achieved a fairly high level of fame – find a way to lead a normal life through the streets of “Going to New York without being followed and so on,” he recently told GQ magazine. “And there are, I don’t know, five or six of us that just never let up.” He has never been able to take a quiet walk through Central Park.
“We have to work hard at it,” he said of his private life with his wife. The couple now seems to have found a quiet place with their winery in the south of France. “The property is magical,” the Us Weekly source explained. “They have hundreds of acres, a vineyard and olive trees, and the children can be outside and are completely protected. There is a small village nearby with shops. It’s a very simple life and George loves it.”
George Clooney’s life changed with Amal
The megastar’s life was already changing drastically when the man who was considered Hollywood’s most eligible bachelor for many years met Amal through a mutual friend in 2013 and said yes a few months later. On September 27, 2014, he married the respected lawyer in Venice. Among those present were Bono (64), Matt Damon (53), Cindy Crawford (58) and her husband Rande Gerber (62) and John Krasinski (44) and Emily Blunt (41).
This is George Clooney’s second marriage. From 1989 to 1993 he was married to Talia Balsam (65). His prominent ex-girlfriends also allegedly include Cameron Diaz (52), Charlize Theron (49) and Lucy Liu (55) and Renée Zellweger (55).
Retreat is worth the happiness
But it was only with the British-Lebanese lawyer Amal Alamuddin, who herself had an international career in her industry, that the film star is said to have realized what he was missing. Today, the Clooneys are considered one of the most stable couples in Hollywood. “They have a lot of respect for each other and don’t overwhelm each other – they each have their own careers and there’s no jealousy or codependency. It’s a very healthy relationship,” the insider told Us Weekly.
For this partnership, Amal Clooney had to make some sacrifices. Published in 2018, she explained that they were at home a lot in order to have privacy. But the negative side of her husband’s fame doesn’t seem to outweigh it: “This whole side – the invasion of privacy and the paparazzi, all of that – happened because of something that is so happy and so important in my life,” she said.
Two years ago, the Clooneys spoke together about their happiness in love in an interview with Gayle King (69) on “CBS Mornings”. “In the beginning there is love,” said George Clooney. “That’s kind of the whole secret.” Their relationship is “the easiest thing we’ve ever done in our lives. We’ve never had an argument.”
His wife added: “I think meeting the right person is 99 percent luck.” She was surprised that her future husband was so open “and things just developed very quickly.”
