British actress Barbara Leigh-Hunt (1935-2024) is dead. , her family announced in a funeral notice that she passed away peacefully at her home in Warwickshire, England, on September 16. She was 88 years old.
She appeared in Hitchcock’s penultimate film
Leigh-Hunt has appeared on numerous theater stages in her decades-long career, including the Old Vic Theater and the Royal National Theater in London. In 1965 the actress appeared in front of the camera for the first time on television. In 1972, Leigh-Hunt played a murder victim in Alfred Hitchcock’s (1899-1980) penultimate film, the thriller “Frenzy”. That same year she portrayed Catherine Parr in “Henry VIII and his Six Wives”.
In the television miniseries “Wagner – The Life and Work of Richard Wagner” Leigh-Hunt played the Queen of Bavaria in 1083 alongside acting legend Richard Burton (1925-1984). She also became known for her portrayal of Lady Catherine de Bourgh in the BBC television series “Pride and Prejudice” (1995), in which she appeared alongside Jennifer Ehle (54) and Colin Firth (64). She last appeared in front of the camera in 2004 for the historical drama “Vanity Fair”.
Barbara Leigh-Hunt was married to the actor Richard Pasco (1926-2014) from 1967. He brought a son into the marriage; Leigh-Hunt had no children of his own.
