They announced the programming of the Buenos Aires International Theater Festival (FIBA) that begins on October 18

The programming of the event was announced this morning at the San Martín Theater. FIBA (Buenos Aires International Festival), with the best of national and international theater and a return to the origins: after four seasons the festival stops being part of the summer cultural activities and returns to October.

This theatrical celebration has been held since 1997 and this year it will take place between October 18 and 27 and for 10 days it will offer more than 40 national projects and another 20 international projects in more than 40 venues. The curatorial committee is made up of Mónica Berman, Alejandra Varela, Juan Carlos Fontana and Fernanda Cavawhile Federico Irazábal continues as artistic director.

International programming

There will be two main focuses: one focused on Barcelona and the other on Italy. The first is about Barcelona/Buenos Aires Bridge with four works that will present the result of a cultural exchange: the trilogy can be seen “Where the theater beats”premiered at the GREC and created and directed by Nelson Valente and Cristina Valente; “Euphoria and disappointment”the last piece of Sergio Borispremiered at the Girona Season High Festival. And the second focus is Italy windowwith the adaptation of the legendary novel by Thomas Mann, “Death in Venice”directed by Liv Ferracchiati and three works from the company “Spellbound”, “Forma Mentis, If You Were a Man” and “Vivaldiana.” As part of the closing of the Festival and the Italian Window, the multimedia work ““Genesis Revisited”which features two Italian musicians, Danilo Rea and Martux_Mwhich offer a unique piece designed to “listen with your eyes.”

There will be other important international proposals this year such as “Mother House”the first part of “Immoral Tales” by the French director Phia Menard and his company Compagnie Non Nova – Phia Ménard; “Crusades”, a company production Kukai Dancewith the support of the Cultural Center of Spain in Buenos Aires to present an encounter between two people from the depths of their roots; “LIFE”, a love letter to Merce Cunningham from UK-based company Gandini Juggling; ““El Río/The River”from Germany thanks to the support of the Goethe-Institut, the proposal of ““Clement Layes” which invites almost everyone to navigate the waters of a healthy stream for the first time, highlighting the work of recent years. Companies from Canada, South Korea, Croatia and Spain will also participate.

National programming

You will be able to see co-productions that will be presented at the festival as premieres, and other projects selected through an open call with record registrations, exceeding 800 applicants, a reflection of the independent culture of Buenos Aires and local production in public and private spaces. .

For the first time, we will seek to strengthen all the city’s theaters through the OFF/FIBA platform (zero edition) where theaters that are not part of FIBA ​​will be able to promote their programming during the days of the festival.

Tickets

Passes for national works will be free, with prior online reservation. Reservations are made on the website https://fiba.ar/ two days before each show, from 2 p.m. You can reserve 2 (two) tickets per person per function. Some shows will not allow entry once the show has started and it will not be allowed to join tours that depart from a starting point once they begin.

Tickets for international plays are paid and can be purchased online on the website https://fiba.ar/ or in person at the Teatro San Martín box office (Av. Corrientes 1530) from Monday to Sunday from 10 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. .
