The Hamburg indie rock band Tocotronic has to do without guitarist Rick McPhail for the time being. “Our guitarist Rick McPhail has requested an indefinite break from Tocotronic for personal and health reasons,” the band announced on Instagram. Shortly after completing a new album, which McPhail was still working on, he communicated his request to the group. “We wish Rick all the best for the near future and ask that you refrain from asking any further questions out of consideration for his privacy,” it continued.
The American McPhail has been a permanent member of Tocotronic since 2004. The band also includes singer Dirk von Lowtzow, bassist Jan Müller and drummer Arne Zank. The latest album from 2022 is titled “Never Again War”. It is not yet clear when the new album will be released.
