“Current media reports have forced me to make the following clarification: My partner Sophia is neither my late son’s ex-girlfriend nor was she friends with him,” writes Michael Ballack on Instagram. The 48-year-old also posts a photo in which he poses arm in arm with 24-year-old Sophia Schneiderhan in the sunset.
Ballack’s son Emilio died in August 2021 at the age of 18 in a quad bike accident in Portugal. He was the middle son of the ex-national player and his ex-wife Simone Ballack. Various media recently reported that Schneiderhan and Emilio Ballack were very close and were even said to have been a couple. According to the reports, the grief over the death of the 18-year-old allegedly united his father and the model, who was 24 years his junior.
