The vice-rector of the University of Buenos Aires (UBA), Emiliano Yacobitti, assured that the Federal University March this afternoon”It is a final instance of a claim that the university community in general has been making, which started at the beginning of the year due to the outdated budget”.

Yacobitti also crossed the national government and maintained: “All mobilizations are political, it is not a partisan march. “It is a mobilization that is called from the university sectors”.

Regarding the march itself, the radical noted that it will be throughout the country: “What is also true is that in the country you have more than two million university students. Which means that throughout the country today you are going to have mobilizations because the idea is that everyone mobilizes in the place where there is a university city.”

Emiliano Yacobitti denied Federico Sturzenegger

This Tuesday, Federico Sturzenegger, He said on X (formerly Twitter): “For those who are reflecting on higher education, I leave you a piece of information. The salary increase in the general public administration in the year until October reached 68.2%, that of university teachers was 81.4%.”

In response, the vice-rector of the UBA responded: “That is a lie. His discussion was settled in the last joint meeting, in which the Government recognized that the salaries of university employees are 50% below inflation, and 20% below the rest of the public employees, that is why they offered an additional parity, Sturzenegger contradicts with the Secretary of Education”.

In that sense, Yacobitti concluded: “So far this year, the salaries of university employees have had an average drop of 40% in purchasing power. This caused many teachers to reduce their dedication or accept offers from private universities. “80% of teachers earn less than $400,000.”
