For his part, the president of the Industrial Union of the Province of Buenos Aires (UIPBA), Martin Rappallini, He emphasized the need to make a 21st century industrial policy: “The industrial sectors that compete with the world have higher demands than the rest of the economy and therefore require an aggressive reduction in taxes and the promotion of investment in the sector.”
In addition, he expanded on other variables that the industry needs: “Credit financing, macroeconomic order, low inflation, modern labor regulations, more technical training and an infrastructure that reduces logistics costs.” At the same time, he stressed that developed countries “have already emerged from the naivety of free trade and implemented tools such as antidumping and tariffs in defense of countries that subsidize exports.
The president of Industrial Parks Network, Dario Parlascinowho also emphasized the tax issue: “Let’s not try to finance the deficit with our rates, let’s promote private development”. For his part, Silvio Zurzolo, president of ADIBA, Association of Industrialists of the Province of Buenos Aires, said: “Whoever doubts that the Argentine industry can compete with the world means that they have never set foot in an industry.” And he added: “We have a foot of taxes that prevents us from being competitive.
Likewise, he celebrated the 10th anniversary of the conclave and focused on the importance of industrial parks, of which he said: “They are already the great industrial engine of the national economy, supplying 25% of domestic consumption.”
Somos Industria 2024 will be attended by sector leaders and government authorities. Several discussion panels were held with figures such as the economist Marina Dal Poggettothe Secretary of Commerce of the Nation, Pablo Lavignethe Secretary of Small and Medium Enterprises, Entrepreneurs and Knowledge Economy, Marcos Ayerra, and the Minister of Economic Development of the City of Buenos Aires, Roberto García Moritanamong others.
In turn, within the framework of this event the 6th SME Industrial Congresswhich in addition to the organization of UIPBA has the support of the ADIBA, FEBA and CEPBA chambers, and this year will have the tenth edition of the Buenos Aires Industrial Parks Exhibition (EPIBA)organized by RedPARQUES, in alliance with FAPI and APIA.
In that sense, Rappallini highlighted the importance of debate forums that promote the recognition and potential of the Argentine industry. “There is a very strong debate today in the world about how countries increase the competitiveness of their industry, and here at Somos Industria we try to bring that necessary debate adapted to Argentina.“he concluded.
