After Matthew Perry’s death: accused doctor pleads guilty

One of the doctors charged in connection with Matthew Perry’s death has pleaded guilty. He faces up to ten years in prison.

One of the two doctors charged in the death of “Friends” star Matthew Perry (1969-2023) has pleaded guilty in a Los Angeles court. Several US media outlets report this unanimously.

The defendant had already been banned from practicing law in August and was released after paying bail of $50,000. The doctor had agreed to a settlement in the criminal proceedings and, according to US media reports, wanted to plead guilty to conspiracy to distribute ketamine, which has now happened.

Up to ten years in prison for accused doctor

According to the public prosecutor’s office, the accused doctor Marc Chavez (54) faces up to ten years in prison. He is one of five people accused of obtaining ketamine and supplying it to the late actor. He is the third person to have agreed to a corresponding agreement.

The other doctor and a woman known in Hollywood as the “Ketamine Queen” have denied the accusations. Because Chavez is cooperating with prosecutors, the sentence is likely to be less. He will remain at large until the verdict is announced on April 2nd.

Matthew Perry, best known for his role as Chandler Bing in the cult sitcom “Friends,” was found dead in Los Angeles on October 28, 2023. He died at the age of 54. The coroner determined that Perry’s death was caused primarily by “acute effects” of ketamine.
