The former Bolivian president called the complaint a “dirty and lying campaign,” which “has the objective of politically annulling any electoral option that represents an alternative to get out of the economic crisis.”
The former president of Bolivia, Evo Moralesdescribed this Friday as ”a lie” the accusation regarding an alleged rape of the former president of a minor, while he was in office, and with whom he also had a daughter. During the day on Thursday, the Minister of Justice, Cesar Silesrevealed that Morales -whose mandate extended from 2006 to 2019- is being investigated for rape: “We have observed with indignation serious crimes that seek to remain unpunished: I am specifically referring to a girl, a girl raped at 15, at 16 years old.“.

According to Siles, “as a result of that rape (the mother) fathered another girl and the father recognized on a birth certificate, (is) Mr. Evo Morales Ayma“And he added: “There is an open process” that “is under investigation”at a press conference.
This Friday, from Cochabamba, the former president responded to Siles’ accusation: “I cannot understand what kind of Minister of Justice we have, knowing that this case is closed, because there was nothing, it is a lie”. Currently, Morales is in a fierce dispute with Arce ahead of the 2025 presidential elections.
According to the former president, the government of his former minister revived four processes to harm him politically, including the alleged abuse of the minor, and he seemed confident: “They have investigated all year, and there is going to be nothing. It is another lie”. In 2020, the government of Jeanine Áñez “using the Ministry of Justice already prosecuted me, already investigated me, and it has been shown that there was nothing,” he added, and showed a judicial resolution from that year, where, according to him, the complaint of “aggravated rape and corruption (of) a child, adolescent” is rejected..
Evo Morales also defended himself on social networks
On his social networks, Morales assured that the government is acting in retaliation for the march he led against President Arce in recent days, and which brought together thousands of indigenous people who protested against the shortage of fuel and dollars.
In a message on X, he noted: ”This dirty and lying campaign has the objective of politically nullifying any electoral option that represents an alternative to get out of the economic crisis.”
The arrest resolution against Morales indicates that in 2015 the then president became involved with a 15-year-old minor with whom he had a daughter the following year. Asked by a journalist about this topic, Morales avoided answering by stating that “don’t mess with the family; the family is sacred.”
