It just wasn’t meant to be: Saoirse Ronan wanted to star in the “Harry Potter” films, but unfortunately didn’t get the role.
Saoirse Ronan (30) has had some big roles in recent years. But the actress, who was nominated for an Oscar four times, was not allowed to embody every character she would have liked to portray in front of the camera. In the (56) Ronan mentions, among other things, that she was almost seen in the hit film “Barbie” by Greta Gerwig (41) – and that she once wanted to star in the “Harry Potter” films.
Ronan was supposed to play a “strange Barbie,” apparently similar to Kate McKinnon (40), as she says. She was originally supposed to be seen in addition to her colleague. However, due to the filming of “The Outrun”, the new film by “System Sprenger” director Nora Fingscheidt (41), she did not have time for the role. She still regrets today that she couldn’t star in “Barbie.”
Saoirse Ronan in “Harry Potter”?
When asked by Kimmel whether there were any other roles she would have liked to play, Ronan talked about the “Harry Potter” film adaptations. “There are things that you reject and then they come out and you think, ‘Oh God, that was a misstep on my part,'” the actress explains. “But I think the thing that stuck with me over the years was [“Harry Potter”] – I didn’t say no, I just didn’t get the role. I lost again; That’s like a common thread for me.” The two had previously joked that she never wins.
“But I auditioned for Luna Lovegood in ‘Harry Potter’ years ago,” Ronan remembers. “Because it was basically the Irish role, so they invited all Irish people, half of Ireland came to audition.” The role ultimately went to Evanna Lynch (33). However, Ronan knew that the decision would not be made for her because she was too young: “But I was allowed to read a scene that would appear in ‘Harry Potter’ and that was the coolest thing ever.”
