Ozzy Osbourne: drug relapse due to poor health

Ozzy Osbourne is known for his drug past. The musician is currently “trying to return to stronger drugs.”

Ozzy Osbourne (75) revealed in his podcast that he is currently taking drugs again. The musician, who has struggled with serious addiction problems in the past, is turning to intoxicants again because of his health problems. “I’m happier, but I’m not completely sober. I use a little marijuana from time to time,” Osbourne said.

Because of his pain, he was even “tempted to go back to stronger drugs.” A doctor recently gave him the anesthetic ketamine. “He gave me a tiny amount, but it was enough to trigger the spark,” said the Black Sabbath frontman. He is now considering going to Alcoholics Anonymous meetings again.

Wife Sharon knows nothing about drug use

The singer emphasized that Osbourne’s wife Sharon (71) should not find out about his consumption. “I’m lucky that my wife constantly kicks my ass, otherwise she would make my life so difficult.” Even the marijuana “they’ll find the hell out of and get rid of.”

Drugs are an integral part of Ozzy Osbourne’s image. Particularly in the 1970s and 1980s, he struggled with addiction, which caused him to be kicked out of his band Black Sabbath in 1979. Osbourne went into withdrawal ten times over the years, but he was never able to really give up the substances. It wasn’t until his wedding to his wife in 1982 that he got clean. “If it wasn’t for Sharon, I would be dead now. I used huge amounts of drugs and alcohol. I never stopped. People didn’t know if I was going through the door, the roof or the window,” confessed in one Interview.

In recent years, Ozzy Osbourne has increasingly struggled with other health problems. During a fall in 2019, metal rods in his spine that had been inserted after an ATV accident in 2003 slipped. He required several operations and was in the hospital for two months, since then he has had to rely on crutches or a wheelchair. The heavy metal icon also suffers from Parkinson’s disease.
