According to a report from the Rosario Stock Exchange, the record exceeds by 8.8% the 646,685 tons imported in the same month last year.
In September they registered soybean imports for 703,699 tons, which implies a all-time record for the month. This record exceeds by 8.8% the 646,685 tons imported in the same month last year, when the productive catastrophe caused by the drought led imports for the 2022/23 commercial cycle to a historical maximum of 10.4 million tons in the total of the season.

“During the six months that have passed since the current commercial campaign, imports of the oilseed have accumulated 4.46 million tons. This is behind only the 7 million tons that were imported in the first half of the last campaign, which was seriously affected by inclement weather,” said the Rosario Stock Exchange.

In relation to the last five previous campaigns, the imported volume is 58.4% higher. This data is analyzed at the same time that 28.9 million tons were committed as of 9/25. It represents 58% of production.

In relation to the last five previous campaigns, the imported volume is 58.4% higher.
The Rosario entity highlighted that these numbers represent a delay in business progress of 12 percentage points in relation to the average of the last 5 campaigns, without considering 2022/23 strongly affected by the drought. “This slower progress in marketing is mainly explained by lower purchases by the industrial sector which, on average and as a proportion of production, has purchased 24.2% less soybeans in the domestic market than in the reference period,” noted the BCR.
Producers warn about prices
For its part, the market perceives difficulty in originating merchandise at a firm price. Producers are waiting for improvements in prices, which are at five-year lows in constant terms.
Regarding the volumes operated, the soybeans of the new campaign reach maximum levels. “In the last week, greater activity began to be seen for the contract expiring in May, which was accompanied by an increase in prices,” highlighted the BCR regarding Matba Rofex.
