In the future, two women will be investigating in the northernmost “crime scene” team. Newcomer Karoline Schuch will be in front of the camera with Almila Bagriacik this fall. But she was seen there before.
The new “crime scene” investigator in Kiel will be Karoline Schuch. The 42-year-old actress (“The Second Wave”) will then portray police psychologist Elli Krieger. The Norddeutscher Rundfunk announced this on Tuesday in Hamburg. The “Bild” newspaper had previously reported.
Schuch forms a new “crime scene” duo with Almila Bagriacik (34) alias Chief Inspector Mila Sahin. She follows Axel Milberg, who is saying goodbye to his role as Inspector Klaus Borowski after more than 20 years. His final case is expected to air in 2025. Purely female duos are used in both the NDR “crime scenes” from Kiel and Lower Saxony and the “Polizeiruf 110” from Rostock.
“I am happy and excited to be part of the Kiel “Tatort” from autumn,” said Karoline Schuch, according to NDR. “It always had a very special color for me and I hope and wish that we can keep it that way. I’m particularly looking forward to Almila, who I’ve known since her very first case in Kiel, because we were in front of the camera together.” The special thing about her role as Elli Krieger is that she joins the police force as a psychologist. “This circumstance particularly appealed to me because it eliminates the classic commissioner work for me and there will be an exciting contrast to the character Mila Sahin,” says Schuch, who lives in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania.
According to the broadcaster, Bagriacik and Schuch will both appear in front of the camera in leading roles for the Sunday crime thriller for the first time this fall. For fans of the series, it’s déjà vu: Schuch had already appeared as a guest star in the Kiel “Tatort” case “Borowski and the House of the Ghosts” in 2018. She made her “Tatort” debut in 2001 as the film daughter of WDR commissioner Freddy Schenk (Dietmar Bär).
The actress, who was born in Jena, Thuringia, became known more than 20 years ago with the daily soap “Verbotene Liebe” on RTL, before pursuing a career as a character actress. She has already played more than 60 roles. The audience knows her from “The Secret of the Forest of the Dead”. For her performance in the multi-part thriller, she received the Bavarian Television Award for Best Leading Actress in 2021.
In her own words, Grimme Prize winner Almila Bagriacik is pleased “that we will be breaking new ground with the next films.” She feels closely connected to her role. “The curiosity about the further cases with the wonderful Karoline Schuch is all the more a challenging and nice incentive. With this colleague at my side, it is guaranteed to continue to be exciting and exciting at the Kiel “Tatort”.”
