There is probably no other song for which Céline Dion (56) is as known as “My Heart Will Go On”. After Kelly Clarkson (42) recently broke up, the Canadian singer now praises her US colleague highly.
“You cried, and then you made me cry”
First, the 56-year-old points out that Clarkson had commented on Dion’s Olympic performance. The Canadian celebrated a spectacular comeback on the Eiffel Tower at the opening ceremony of the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris. After her return, Dion was able to see Clarkson’s reactions. It was very touching for her that her voice broke: “You cried, and then you made me cry. What’s all the damn crying about?”
Kelly Clarkson sang the song in a segment of her own show a few days ago. “And now I just saw you singing ‘My Heart Will Go On’ and I’m crying again. You were absolutely incredible, fantastic. I loved it so much,” praises the visibly moved Céline Dion. She hopes that the two of them can meet in person soon – and then not have to cry.
The praise should also please Clarkson, who apparently didn’t even dare to try the song at first. After the performance, she said that Dion’s Eiffel Tower show was one of the highlights of the summer for her. “Normally I would never cover this song,” she told the audience. “Because there are some songs that you just shouldn’t approach as a singer.”
