“At Shell we are always exploring opportunities to optimize our portfolio. But as a matter of company policy, we do not comment on potential commercial activities or agreements”sources from the company originally from the Netherlands told ER.

The oil company YPF is going to close an agreement for Vaca Muerta gas with Shell, the main LNG operator in the world, for the next 20 years, as confirmed E.R. from unobjectionable sources in the hydrocarbon sector.

“At Shell we are always exploring opportunities to optimize our portfolio. But as a matter of company policy, we do not comment on potential commercial activities or agreements”they told ER.

The information had been anticipated this morning by the Chief of Staff, Guillermo Francos, who within the framework of Colloquium of the Industrial Union of Córdoba (UIC), had stated that YPF was close to closing an agreement for Vaca Muerta gas.

The official assured that 30% of the gas produced by Vaca Muerta is about to be sold, with the aim of generating exceptional profits of up to US$140 billion in 20 years. Likewise, he stated that the signing would be with “one of the most important companies in the world”.

“This company can buy a third of Argentina’s gas exports, which are something like US$7 billion annually for 20 years, thinking about the Vaca Muerta deposit,” said Francos. The signing would take place between today and tomorrow.

Another relevant fact is that, during the celebration of Shell’s 110 years in Argentina, the company’s new CEO, Germán Burmeister, had anticipated the intention to join the LNG business that YPF is currently leading.
