Three little girls were killed in an attack in Southport. The families have now received a visit from Duchess Kate, who has recovered, and her husband William.
British Princess Kate appeared in public with Prince William for the first time since the end of her chemotherapy. The couple visited the northwest English town of Southport, Kensington Palace said. The heir to the throne and his wife expressed their “support for the people in the city,” where three children were killed in a knife attack at the end of July.
Kate’s first date outside the palace
For Kate, it is the first official appointment in public outside of the protected palace walls. William’s father, King Charles III, also visited Southport in August. He looked at items placed in memory of the victims, such as flowers and stuffed animals, before meeting privately with some survivors of the attack and their relatives in the town hall.
The “Daily Mail” royal expert Rebecca English about Kate and William’s surprise visit. The two royals came to meet with the families of the girls who were killed and to talk to rescue workers.
Kate and William think of the people of Southport
The royal couple posted a picture of the visit that was signed with their initials. “We continue to stand with everyone in Southport. Today’s engagement with the community is a powerful reminder of the importance of supporting one another in the wake of an unimaginable tragedy.” People remained in Williams and Kate’s thoughts and prayers.
At the beginning of October, Kate was at Windsor Castle after announcing in September that she had completed her chemotherapy. The princess had previously made it public that she had cancer in March. Kate joined William in welcoming 16-year-old Liz Hatton, who has an aggressive form of cancer, and her family to a private meeting. Liz, like Kate, an enthusiastic photographer, had been invited to take photos of an investiture.
