Kamala Harris: She graces the digital cover of “Vogue”

The American “Vogue” dedicated a cover to Kamala Harris (59) when she took office as Vice President of the United States in January 2021. About a month before the presidential election in November, the Democratic presidential candidate is now adorning .

The cover image was shot by photographer Annie Leibovitz and shows Harris at her official residence in Washington, DC Dressed in a dark brown suit and silk blouse, the vice president sits casually on a light blue armchair in front of a red wall and looks confidently into the camera. “The candidate for our times,” it says.

On the morning of July 21st, a Sunday, she did sports and watched a cooking show on TV, then – still in sports clothes – she prepared breakfast for her niece’s daughters. Then the phone rang. Joe Biden was on the line and informed her that he was withdrawing from the race and wanted to support her as his successor. “It was a dramatic turn for the day,” says Harris.

That same day, Harris began preparing for her candidacy. She was initially unable to reach her husband Douglas Emhoff (59), who was in Los Angeles at the time. She later contacted numerous people to initiate her candidacy. By the evening there had been around 100 calls.

Since then, in just about three months, a movement has developed around Kamala Harris’ campaign. Numerous celebrities have openly expressed their support for the Democrat – including Taylor Swift (34), who wrote on Instagram in September that she would vote for Harris.
