As James Bond, he smooched his way through the world. Today, Daniel Craig finds some love scenes just embarrassing.
When he was still James Bond, intense close contact was part of everyday business. On the promotional tour for his revealing new film “Queer”, Daniel Craig admits that he has already appeared in some “terrible love scenes” in his career. He leaves open which scenes he means by this. Spicy: In love with his current wife Rachel Weisz ( 54), the 56-year-old fell in love in front of the camera – smooching.
“Achievement of a lifetime”
Daniel Craig has apparently freed himself from his time as James Bond between 2006 and 2021. In current interviews, the ex-agent actor seems almost liberated. His new look with long hair and loose clothes fits this impression. His leading role in the much-discussed and highly praised film “Queer” couldn’t be more contrasting to his Bond appearances. In the film, Craig plays the role of American emigrant and war veteran William Lee, who begins a romance with a younger man (Drew Starkey, 30). A particularly revealing scene shows Craig having oral sex.
Craig has received a lot of praise for the role so far. “Queer” was presented to a professional audience for the first time at the Venice Film Festival. Festival boss Alberto Barbera (74) said after the world premiere that he believed that Daniel had achieved “the performance of his life” in “Queer”. He would be surprised “if we didn’t see the British actor at the Oscars next year.”
Wife learned to love by smooching in front of the camera
Craig finds the sex scenes in “Queer” particularly authentic: “Sex is wonderful and messy and complicated. I hope we managed to bring that to the screen because that’s what happens in the bedroom.” His career is rich in memorable love scenes: in 2004 with Sienna Miller (42) in “Layer Cake” and with Eva Green (44), Monica Bellucci (60) and Lea Seydoux (39) in the James Bond films. Could he have been referring to one of these scenes when he spoke of “terrible”?
The first contact with his current wife Rachel Weisz (54) also took place while smooching in front of a camera. Both shared a romantic and passionate kiss in the 2011 Canadian mystery thriller “Dream House.” They married that same year. It can be assumed that Craig excludes his own wife when criticizing embarrassing love scenes in his career.
