Max Kruse apparently ruined his participation in the World Cup with escort ladies

Every person makes mistakes. Also ex-footballer Max Kruse. He regrets one thing in particular. In the Celebrity Big Brother Container he admits the faux pas that cost him the world championship title.

A situation like on a school trip: the teachers stand in front of the room in the hostel and throw the girls out of the boys’ rooms. Things seem to be similar in footballers’ team hotels. Max Kruse tells the TV format “Celebrity Big Brother” about a situation with bad consequences.

November 2013: Max Kruse is in London for the DFB international match. There is a game of poker in his hotel room, to which he has also invited ladies from an escort service. Then there is a knock on the door. This moment marked a turning point in the professional footballer’s life.

Behind the door are the then assistant coach of the national soccer team, Hansi Flick, and manager Oliver Bierhoff. Both are anything but enthusiastic about Kruse’s nightly activities and instruct him to throw the ladies out. In the container he says: “Usually I was always so clever that I did it in a separate room on another floor. In the national team it’s like that: when you’re in a hotel, you have the whole floor to yourself. And then you just take another floor instead of the 6th, and then she checks in, and then you go to the other floor too.”

Max Kruse had to appear for the interview the following day

But that evening, the now 36-year-old didn’t book an extra room for the ladies: “I wasn’t paying attention and just ordered them to my room,” he admits. It turned out stupidly, because just like in his school days, Kruse also had a disciplinary meeting the next day: “I found the way they talked to me sneaky,” said the “Celebrity Big Brother” resident.

He would have liked those responsible to say: “Max, finish this and then that’s it.” But according to his descriptions, they said: “We are happy with your performance. If that comes out, it will be a really bad picture, you can’t do that. You can decide now, either you concentrate on football or you play no World Cup in the summer.” Kruse apparently felt under pressure and explained to his roommates: “If I behave correctly now, then it’s ok. That was in November and the World Cup was in the summer.”

Apparently he then behaved in a more exemplary manner, because what happened next was a shock to him. Two days before the official nomination, Kruse’s cell phone rang. The then national coach Jogi Löw called. What initially made the former player euphoric and confident about being placed in the squad changed when Löw said on the phone: “Max, we have decided that you won’t be there.”

The pain was deep, Kruse continues: “I was blown away. That’s the only time I caught myself being in a trance. I was a different person. That was the craziest event in my life Football for me. They became world champions.”
