After her grandma’s breast cancer diagnosis, Jessica Chastain is using her platform to highlight the importance of screenings.
Jessica Chastain (47) that her grandmother Marilyn Herst has breast cancer. “My beautiful grandmother Marilyn, who many of you have met at various events, was recently diagnosed with breast cancer,” Chastain wrote.
The series features photos of Herst, including her smiling while sitting in a treatment chair. In other photos, grandma and granddaughter pose together, for example at a party, at home after waking up or on the red carpet. The Oscar winner reports that she met with doctors and surgeons this week “who will give her the best possible treatment.” The actress continued to be confident. Along with the emoji of an arm with big biceps, she writes: “She’s a total warrior and I know she’ll get through this.”

Chastain and her grandmother also use their reach to remind other women of their preventative care appointments. “In honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, she asked me to remind you all: Make an appointment for a mammogram today.” Herst also tells followers how she found the small lump in her breast. “I’m so grateful that I caught it so early because it’s so treatable,” she said. And also called for preventive examinations. “That’s why I want you to do this. Please, for me,” Herst pleaded. And Chastain added: “For Grandma! Please go for a mammogram immediately.”
Chastain and her grandmother have a particularly close relationship. During the corona pandemic, Herst even moved in with her granddaughter. She also often accompanies them to events such as award ceremonies, premieres and parties.
