Ian Somerhalder starred in the hit series “Lost” and “Vampire Diaries”. These roles gave him a life in which he felt most authentic, he now says.
“Vampire Diaries” star Ian Somerhalder says he is more interested in family life with his wife Nikki Reed (“Twilight”) than in his career. “I don’t have to chase awards and everything that makes me feel better about myself,” the 45-year-old told People magazine. “Once you get to a certain level, you say, ‘Okay, I want to focus on family and the future of agriculture and food and energy and the big things.'”
Somerhalder appeared in the television series “Lost” in 2004 and became a star in 2009 as the vampire Damon in the fantasy series “Vampire Diaries.” The actor now explained that he feels enormous gratitude for the roles in both successful series. “But this path has taken me to where I feel most authentic, namely in cowboy boots, feeding the cows and leading horses.”
Reed and Somerhalder have been married since 2015 and had their second child together last year. On Instagram, both actors share photos of their life on a farm and talk about topics such as animal and environmental protection.
