More than ten years ago, Cameron Diaz decided to take a break from the film business. Now she explains what dream drove her back then and why everything else “didn’t matter at all” to her for a while.
US actress Cameron Diaz says she devoted herself entirely to her dream of having a family during her ten-year break from acting. “I had the feeling that it was the right thing for me to take my own life back into my hands, and I didn’t care about anything else,” the 52-year-old explained at an event hosted by the US magazine “Fortune”. Nothing could dissuade her from the decision “to take care of myself and build the life that I really wanted to have,” Diaz explained. “The question really is: What is your passion? For me, it was building my family.”
The Hollywood actress (“Crazy for Mary”) was last seen in the musical adaptation “Annie” in 2014 and then withdrew from the film business. In 2015 she married Good Charlotte guitarist Benji Madden, and their daughter Raddix was born in 2019. His son Cardinal followed last March.
After a decade of waiting, fans can now look forward to the action comedy Back in Action, in which Diaz will star alongside Jamie Foxx. The film is scheduled to be released on Netflix next year.
