Liam Payne: The singer was in a relationship with these women

Liam Payne: The singer was in a relationship with these women

Liam Payne became a superstar with One Direction and his relationships often caused a stir. Shortly before his death, his ex-fiancée made critical comments about him.

When 14-year-old Liam Payne sang the song “Fly Me To the Moon” on the British talent show “The X Factor” in 2008, he thrilled the judges. Especially the juror Cheryl Cole, ten years his senior, to whom he boldly winked. What he couldn’t have guessed back then: years later he would be in a relationship with Cole. However, in 2008, head judge Simon Cowell was not yet convinced about letting Payne advance to a round and asked him to try his luck again.

In 2010, at age 16, Payne did just that – and so did four other young men: Harry Styles, Zayn Malik, Niall Horan and Louis Tomlinson. They became the boy band One Direction, which would soon achieve world fame. Wherever the five of them performed, countless young girls screamed their hearts out. And so the relationships of the 1D boys repeatedly caused a sensation and headlines.

For two years, from 2010 to 2012, Payne was in a relationship with Danielle Peazer, whom he met on the set of “The X Factor.” Peazer was part of the show as a background dancer. After their separation, the two got together again and bought a dog together. In March 2013 the relationship was finally over. Three years later, Peazer publicly commented on her famous ex-boyfriend. “We still support each other. That’s nice. It’s been three years since we broke up, so a lot of time has passed. We had a great time together and we’re both very happy that we support each other ” she said.

A little later, Payne met Sophia Smith, whom he had known since his school days. The relationship was serious, but neither of them thought about family planning at the time. “We’ve talked about getting married, but 22 seems a little too young for us. Sophia needs to go out and do what she wants to do,” the singer said. After two years of relationship, the separation followed in 2015. “I’m absolutely devastated that I separated from Sophia, but to please someone, sometimes it’s better not to do what your heart wants, but to do what, what’s better for them,” he told The Sun newspaper.

A child with Cheryl Cole

Also in 2015, something 14-year-old Liam probably couldn’t have dreamed of happened: Payne and Cheryl Cole became a couple. In December 2015, Payne and Cole met again on the set of “X Factor.” The two made their relationship official in February 2016. A year later, in March 2017, their son Bear was born. Payne explained how much the birth of his son changed his life – but also his relationship – in Logan Paul’s “Impaulsive” podcast in 2022. “You don’t know what to expect and it’s different. And to be honest, it ruined a relationship for me at that point, but for all the right reasons. I was so excited for him to come into the world, that I worried that I didn’t love him enough,” Payne said.

In July 2018, Payne announced her separation from Cheryl Cole. “Cheryl and I are sad to announce that we are going our separate ways. It was a difficult decision for us,” he wrote on X. “We still have so much love for each other as a family. Bear is our world and we ask that you respect his privacy as we navigate our journey together,” Payne said.

Liam Payne’s next serious relationship was with Maya Henry. In August 2020, the singer proposed to the author. However, the love didn’t last, the separation followed in 2022. But the end of the love shouldn’t mean an end to the headlines. To this day, in interviews and on TikTok, Henry discusses what she experienced at Payne’s side. In May of this year, she told People magazine that the time had not been easy. In an interview, she revealed that her novel “Looking Forward” was inspired by true events. In the book, a young woman meets a pop star who changes over the course of the relationship, falls into alcoholism and becomes violent. At one point in the story, the pop star forces his girlfriend Mallory to have an abortion. It’s all fiction – or is it?

Argument with Maya Henry

“What I went through in real life is very similar to what Mallory goes through in the book. I definitely had some complications and had to go to the hospital alone,” Henry told People about her own abortion.

A week before Liam Payne’s death, the singer received mail from Henry’s lawyers. They sent him a cease and desist order because Payne had allegedly repeatedly contacted Henry. “Since we broke up, he’s been sending me messages, blowing up my phone… always from different phone numbers,” Henry explained on TikTok a few days ago, without mentioning Payne by name. But that’s not all. In an interview with the podcast “The Internet is Dead”, she revealed that Payne had repeatedly talked about his death. “Since we broke up, he’s always been sending me messages like, ‘Oh, I’m not feeling well.’ He’s always playing with death, saying, ‘Well, I’m going to die. I’m not feeling well.'”

Because of her statements, Henry received a lot of hate from his fans immediately after the news of Payne’s death. Her TikTok profile in particular was flooded with negative comments. Henry has now deactivated the comment function there.

Henry was followed by Kate Cassidy, who was at Payne’s side in Argentina and with whom he had been in a relationship since 2022. However, Cassidy reportedly left two days before the singer’s death. At a hotel in Buenos Aires on Wednesday, Payne was noticed for his “erratic” behavior, trashed his room and allegedly appeared drunk. Shortly after a hotel employee called police for help, Payne fell from the balcony of his third-floor room.
