Andrew Garfield had to do without co-star Florence Pugh in London. But he didn’t present the joint film alone.
Andrew Garfield (41) and Florence Pugh (28) can be seen side by side in the film “We Live In Time”. However, the co-stars were unable to pose together for photographers for the UK premiere at the BFI London Film Festival at the Royal Festival Hall. While Garfield came in person on Thursday (October 17), the premiere audience at Pugh had to make do with a cardboard cutout.
Enthusiasm from afar
Her co-star dutifully took the figure, which Pugh showed off in a sheer dress she wore to the film’s presentation in New York City in September, to the red carpet. The actress was unable to travel to London due to filming, according to the BBC. The 28-year-old explained: “I’m sorry that I can’t be at LFF. It really hurts not to be there and celebrate the release, but I’m toasting with a glass far away. Lots of love to you all .” She also enthusiastically shared pictures of Garfield and her cardboard likeness and commented: “Brilliant. Very well done, Andrew.”
Instead of Pugh, the 41-year-old was accompanied by, among others, director John Crowley (81), producer Benedict Cumberbatch (48), screenwriter Nick Payne (born 1984) and co-star Douglas Hodge (64).
“We Live in Time” is a romantic drama in which an aspiring chef (Garfield) and a newly divorced woman (Pugh) fall in love, have a child and make their way through life. However, the family’s bumpy happiness is shattered by a late-stage cancer diagnosis. The German cinema release is planned for January 2025.
