Liam Payne: First autopsy results on cause of death

The world is devastated by the unexpected death of Liam Payne. The preliminary autopsy report reveals what the Briton died of.

Musician Liam Payne (1993-2024) died at the age of just 31 after falling from a balcony. The British singer fell from the third floor of a hotel in Buenos Aires. According to the local prosecutor’s office, the incident is being investigated as a “doubtful death.”

According to a preliminary autopsy report, the former member of the celebrated boy band One Direction died of polytrauma (multiple life-threatening injuries to various parts of the body) and internal and external bleeding. Further investigations are still being carried out to investigate evidence of possible drug use before the fatal fall.

He didn’t try to protect himself from the impact

According to the investigation so far, everything indicates that Payne was alone in his room when he fell from the balcony. Given the position of the body and the injuries caused by the fall, the public prosecutor’s office assumes that the singer did not try to protect himself from the fall. He could therefore have been in a state of semi- or complete unconsciousness.

Substances that “appeared to be narcotics and alcoholic beverages, as well as several destroyed items and furniture” were allegedly found at the crime scene in Payne’s hotel room. According to investigators, it was a “kind of outburst” due to drug abuse.

The emergency call

An emergency call was received by the police on Wednesday afternoon (Argentina time). An unnamed man is said to have behaved aggressively in the hotel, presumably under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs. He is also said to have denied the hotel staff access to the room for days. “We are heartbroken,” said the family in an initial statement published by the British BBC. “Liam will live in our hearts forever and we will remember him as a kind, funny and brave soul. We support each other as a family as best we can and ask for privacy and space during this terrible time.”
