In his statement, the 30-year-old said it was an honor to have been at Payne’s side for so many years. “I’m truly devastated by Liam’s death,” the singer wrote. “His greatest joy was making other people happy and it was an honor to be at his side to do so. Liam lived very openly, wore his heart on his sleeve and had a life energy that was contagious. He was warm-hearted, helpful and incredibly loving.” Styles added: “The years we spent together will forever be among the most precious years of my life. I will always miss him, my dear friend.”
