After Liam Payne’s death, One Direction member Niall Horan also spoke out – with moving words.
Niall Horan (31) was the last member of the former boy band One Direction to personally comment on the death of Liam Payne (1993-2024). The musician died aged just 31 after falling from a hotel balcony in Buenos Aires, Argentina. He enjoyed great success with the group One Direction. His bandmate Horan is now “absolutely devastated” by the “death of his amazing friend”.
Liam Payne was “the brightest in every room”
Payne had been in Argentina in the past few weeks because, among other things, he wanted to experience a concert from Horan’s world tour there. “I’m so happy that I was able to see him recently. Unfortunately, I didn’t know that after I said goodbye to him that evening and hugged him, I would be saying goodbye forever. It’s heartbreaking,” he also writes in his statement on the death of his friend.
The deceased had “an energy for life and a passion for work” that was infectious. “He was the brightest person in every room and always made everyone feel happy and safe,” Horan said. A friendship like Payne’s “doesn’t come along very often in a lifetime.”
“It just doesn’t feel real.”
Harry Styles also finds moving words
Horan was the last member of One Direction to issue a personal statement about the death. “The years we spent together will forever be some of the most precious years of my life,” said Harry Styles (30).
All surviving group members had already made a joint statement on October 17th. “We are completely devastated by the news of Liam’s death”, . “In due course, and when everyone is able, there will be more to say. But first we will take time to grieve and come to terms with the loss of our brother, whom we loved very much.”
