“You have been summoned here to avenge the death of the Vikings,” declares King Canut of Denmark (Bradley Freegard) before his horde. “Bring me to England!”

Further irritating the crowd is the Norse prince Harald Sigurdsson (Leo Suter), one of the three main characters that the show will follow. “This blood is not my blood. It is our blood,” he exclaims. “It’s Viking blood!”

Famed explorer Leif Eriksson (Sam Corlett) and her sister Freydis Eriksdotter (Frida Gustavsson) complete the main trio.

Other faces we see in the footage include King Aethelred’s son, Prince Edmund (Louis Davison), who thinks the pounding he hears in the distance is the pounding of drums. Emma of Normandy (Laura Berlin) corrects it. “No. Shields,” she says.

Jeb Stuart Showrunner of the series explains that Valhalla will have nods to Vikings from Michael Hirst , which was broadcast on the History Channel from 2013 to 2020, but can be seen by those who have not seen the series. Hirst returns as an executive producer on the sequel.

Vikings: Valhalla will premiere in Netflix on February 25.
