Bayer Leverkusen star Victor Boniface was injured in a car accident after scoring the winning goal against Eintracht Frankfurt on Saturday.
Leverkusen soccer star Victor Boniface (23) was involved in a serious car accident on Saturday evening. The Nigerian himself announced this in his Instagram stories. There he posted several pictures from the scene of the accident, where you can see a destroyed vehicle and an ambulance. In one of the pictures, the soccer star holds his blood-smeared hand into the camera.
The newspaper has already obtained a statement from his club Bayer Leverkusen. It simply says: “He’s fine.” He commented on one of the pictures in which he photographed the rescue service’s recordings in the official operational report with the words “God say my time never reach”, in German roughly: “God says my time will never come.” All stories have now been deleted by Boniface. The reason? Unknown.
Hours earlier, Victor Boniface was the winning goal scorer against Frankfurt
A few hours earlier he was on the pitch for his club Bayern Leverkusen. In the 2-1 win against Eintracht Frankfurt at home at the BayArena, Boniface initially missed a penalty in the 9th minute of the game, but scored the winning goal with a header in the 72nd minute before being substituted in the 80th minute.
The Nigerian has been under contract with Bayer Leverkusen since 2023 and developed into one of the biggest stars in the Bundesliga last season. At the end of the season he won both the German championship and the DFB Cup with Leverkusen. Just a few days ago, Boniface made bizarre headlines with the Nigerian national football team.
Shortly before landing in the Libyan port city of Benghazi, the plane was diverted to al-Baida, where the crew had to stay for 15 hours without food or overnight accommodation. The team then flew out again without playing the qualifying game for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations in Libya. Boniface also reported the airport ordeal to his followers via Instagram and described the situation there.
