Amazon Prime Video will launch an animated spin-off of the series “The Boys”

Well-known figures from the American audiovisual industry participate in the cast that provides the voices for each story, including Awkwafina (“Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings”), Andy Samberg (“Brooklyn Nine-Nine”), Seth Rogen ( “The Disaster Artist: Masterpiece”) and filmmaker Justin Roiland, known for co-creating the hit “Rick & Morty” with Dan Harmon.

The duo of comedian brothers Eliot and Ilana Glazer (“Broad City”) and actress Aisha Tyler (“Criminal Minds”) complete the list of the production that has scripts by Evan Goldberg (“The Green Hornet”), Simon Racioppa ( “Invincible”) and Ben Bayouth (“Blark and Son”).

The news comes a week after the platform announced the premiere date of the third season of “The Boys”, which will arrive in its catalog on June 3 next.

The series, which since its launch has received various nominations for awards such as the Emmys and those of the United States Actors Guild, will come to streaming with the first three episodes of its new installment, which will consist of another five chapters that will be available weekly each Friday.

“The Boys” leaves the mold of those stories about superhuman and superpowerful beings who are morally irreproachable in their mission to protect humanity, and instead proposes a scenario in which the characters not only have greater psychological depth but also very questionable methods. .

Originally published in 2006, the comic was in that sense a definitive subversion of the subgenre, in which the superheroes are true monsters and those who appear to form the group of antagonists are actually the good guys in the story.
