Eva Mendes talked about the strict rules that apply to her daughters at home. She also raves about partner Ryan Gosling.
Actress Eva Mendes (50) and Hollywood star Ryan Gosling (43) have been in a relationship since 2011. The two usually keep their private life with their daughters Esmeralda (10) and Amada (8) tightly under wraps. Mendes now gave a rare insight into her parenthood and her relationship life.
As Mendes reveals in the conversation, her two daughters, who are homeschooled, are not allowed to use smartphones or social media. “If I let my child go on the Internet and say, ‘Oh, look for something,’ it’s like telling them, ‘Oh, just go out on the street in the middle of the night. Nothing will happen to you ‘” explains the 50-year-old. “I know that sounds extreme, but that’s how I feel.”
She also wants to show her children again and again how privileged they grew up. “I explain to them what I didn’t have, what Ryan didn’t have when he was little, how hard we had to fight, the dark days of living paycheck to paycheck,” Mendes says. “I still have all these fears and I see that I’m passing them on to my children.”
Mendes more or less left acting behind him a few years ago. In the interview, the designer and entrepreneur explains that she was “never in love with acting”. “I don’t mean this in a self-deprecating way, but I wasn’t a great actress. I had my moments working with really great people.” She is most proud of the film “The Place Beyond the Pines,” on whose set she met Gosling. “He brought something out of me that was never available to me before.”
Gosling said in an interview with the men’s magazine “GQ” in 2023 about getting to know each other: “It’s true that I didn’t think about children before I met her. But after I met Eva, I realized that I just don’t want children without them,” he explained. “There were moments in ‘The Place Beyond the Pines’ where we were pretending to be a family – and I really didn’t want it to be fake anymore.”
Ryan Gosling makes her feel sexy
Mendes tells “The Times” that her partner also has a decisive influence on her relationship with her body. “I feel really f…cking sexy sometimes,” she describes. “The way my husband looks at me is just… Sometimes I’m like, ‘Oh my God.’ This may not go over well with people, but so much of what I feel is a reflection of what he gives me.”
In order to feel good, Mendes doesn’t rule out beauty procedures. “I’m not afraid to try things that are safe because most of these little treatments are, let’s say, reversible.” If you get Botox, it goes away if you don’t like it. “There were times when I regretted something – and then you just wait and see.” The fact that she celebrated her 50th birthday in March didn’t worry Mendes. “It was totally fine. It’s just that that number sounds crazy. I feel like a girl inside and I’m like, oh my God, I’m not a girl anymore.”
