FIBA got hot: theater on the phone

Within the framework of FIBA, the “Telos” project is presented, created by Jorge Eiro and Zoilo Garceswith three theatrical works designed to be seen in a fully operational theater in Flores. With performances by Mariano Saborido and Abián Vainstein, among others.

18 years ago the “Soho telo” exhibition offered installations by more than twenty artists to bid farewell to an emblematic telo that was demolished to build a tower in Palermo. A year later in Madrid Microteatro was born, which was performed for the first time in a brothel in Malasaña. In the 13 rooms of the place, 13 independent groups were housed with the goal of creating a theatrical work of less than 10 minutes for an audience of less than 10 people per room.

Within the framework of FIBA ​​(Buenos Aires International Theater Festival) the “Telos” project is presented, created by Jorge Eiro and Zoilo Garceswith three plays designed to be seen in a fully operational theater, in Ramón Falcón and Quirno. Theatrical works and circulation of public and artists take place on the first floor, while on the second the usual activity of entry and exit of loving and transitory beings continues.

Spectators enter through the parking lot where they wait to be called to the different site specific experiences, that is, theater created to be shown in that specific space. The creation of Juanse Rausch, “Fantasy”, with performances by Mariano Saborido and Milva Leonardiwho play two maids who organize a guided tour of the rooms of a temporary shelter when they meet the public present in the hallway. As if these women turned the telo into a museum, they make you laugh with their personal stories and as historical employees of the place, knowledgeable of all the best kept secrets while they hang the sheets, lift the used condoms, throw disinfectant and even sing vintage songs that they recover from the chest of memories. The full-throated finale in the parking lot has an unexpected surprise. Duration: 35 minutes.

Another performance is “Make waves, roll stones”, created and performed by Celia Argüello, Andrés Molina and Federice Moreno Vieyra, who offer a kind of dance under the sheets that turns into all kinds of figures, from UFOs to sexual creatures. Between music and lights, the way to all kinds of interpretations. Duration: 35 minutes.

The third is a more traditional work that takes place in the room of the telo in question and is called “Daddy”, created by Congratulations Kamienwith performances by Abian Vainstein and Chen Serna. It tells the story of two men with a large age difference who enter the hotel and gradually reveal their secrets, circumstances and the bond that unites them. With repeated twists in the story, they manage to entertain, move and surprise. It is for people over 18 years old and lasts 1 hour. The three will perform again tomorrow and the day after within the framework of FIBA, in one of the most innovative proposals offered by the festival.
