Hugh Grant cheers for Como 1907: This club inspires Hollywood stars

Hollywood glamor at the Italian first division team’s game: On Saturday, Hugh Grant and Andrew Garfield cheered for Como 1907.

The Italian first division football team Como 1907 can look forward to some prominent fans: among others, the British Hollywood star Hugh Grant (64) was spotted in the stands at a game of the newly promoted team at the weekend. The actor sat in the seat between former French professional footballer Raphaël Varane (31) and his wife Anna Eberstein (41) and didn’t miss the opportunity to clearly cheer for the football club from Lombardy.

Footage from the stadium shows Grant jumping up from his seat in celebration and raising his fist after scoring a goal for Como against rival club Parma. The 64-year-old wasn’t the only Hollywood star in the stadium on this match day: “Spider-Man” actor Andrew Garfield (41) also didn’t miss the game and was also excited.

Two weeks ago, Kate Beckinsale (51) was a guest at the stadium, as can be seen from the football club. She was described in the commentary as the “newest Como 1907 fan”. It is said that she even celebrated a goal with a little dance.

Hugh Grant’s visit recalls historic game

Como also honored Grant’s visit in 1907 with a post on social media. The club posts a carousel of pictures on Instagram that not only shows the actor in the stadium, but also commemorates a historic game between Como and the English club Fulham in 1973. “On Saturday 19 October, the Sinigaglia welcomed a special guest: Hugh Grant, British actor and long-time Fulham fan, who watched the Como-Parma game,” it said. The game in the fourth Anglo-Italian Cup was the club’s international debut.
