What is “Puan” about?
The film tells the story of Marcelo, a passionate professor of Political Philosophy. The central conflict arises when his mentor and head of the department dies, leaving his position vacant. At that moment, Rafael, a charismatic rival that arrives with a wave of European ideas. The plot focuses on the ego battle between the two, but above all on how this competition destabilizes Marcelo’s meticulous life.
Furthermore, the film portrays the context of militancy, egos and cultural disputes that go through university. The economic crisis also plays an important role, further complicating Marcelo’s already turbulent life. The film takes place in the UBA and covers emblematic points of the city, but the title knows how to generate a contrast with another completely different place in Argentina: Puan, a town in Buenos Aireswhich tries to reflect calm as opposed to frenetic urban life.
