She last toured Germany in 2018. Now Mireille Mathieu is returning with her last big tour. The pop icon wants more time for herself, as she says in an interview.
The French pop icon Mireille Mathieu is now coming to Germany with her last big foreign tour “Goodbye my Love Goodbye”. The 78-year-old will give the starting signal in Chemnitz this Thursday (October 24th). According to information from the ticket portal Eventim, she will perform in ten German cities until mid-November, including Berlin, Dresden, Munich and Frankfurt. With the two-year international anniversary tour, which began in 2023, Mathieu is saying goodbye to major tours.
Germany is the first European stop on her best-of tour, with which she celebrates her 60-year career. Among other things, Mathieu will interpret a song dedicated to her mother that she has never sung in Germany. “My mother really enjoyed coming to Germany.” Performing the song here for the first time will be full of emotions for her, as she told the German Press Agency in an interview.
More time for creative projects
The Frenchwoman explains that she will only go on short guest tours and visit fewer cities. A decision that has more than just something to do with her age. She also wants to slow down the pace in order to have more time for herself and for creative projects such as composing.
Mathieu has a very special relationship with Germany. “I feel welcome and the audience appreciates me.” German was also the first foreign language in which she sang. That was in 1969 with “Behind the Scenes of Paris.” After Germany we continue to Prague and the Slovakian capital Bratislava.
