Just a few days ago she was visiting Berlin, but now she is out for at least a week: Norway’s Crown Princess Mette-Marit is suffering from the side effects of medical treatment.
Norway’s Crown Princess Mette-Marit (51) has initially canceled or postponed all of her official appointments for a week. As the Norwegian court announced, the reason for this is that Mette-Marit is suffering from side effects of the medication that she has to take due to her chronic lung disease. The royal family announced almost two weeks ago that the new therapy that the Crown Princess recently began could affect her schedule.
Mette-Marit has already had to slow down in the past
Mette-Marit suffers from pulmonary fibrosis – a chronic lung disease that can, among other things, lead to shortness of breath. The wife of the heir to the throne, Crown Prince Haakon (51), made the illness public six years ago. In recent years, Mette-Marit has canceled several appointments for health reasons and has generally cut back on public events. At the beginning of this week she was in Berlin together with other Scandinavian royals and heads of state to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the Nordic embassies.
Mette-Marit and Crown Prince Haakon have two children together – Princess Ingrid Alexandra (20) and Prince Sverre Magnus (18). Mette-Marit also has a son from a previous relationship, Marius Borg Høiby (27). There were allegations of violence against him this summer, some of which he admitted. The investigation into this continues.
