However, in order to reside for a long time and have the possibility of working legally, it is necessary to obtain one of the available Visas. Among them are the Working Holiday Visawhich is the best known, but also the Digital Nomad Visa, the Job Search Visa, the Residence by Expression of Interest and the ETIAS: permission to travel to Europe.

Why choose Portugal to emigrate?

What are the visas available to emigrate to Portugal?

Portugal Working Holiday Visa
It is the most common and chosen type of Visa. It allows you to live and work for 12 months and also take a training course that lasts 6 months. There are only 100 spots per year.
Portugal Digital Nomad Visa
This type of document allows you to work freelance or as an entrepreneur. Being based in Portugal allows you to work for any company in the world or develop your own business. To be eligible, it is mandatory to have an average monthly income that is equivalent to 4 times the country’s minimum wage for at least the last 3 months. That is, 3040 euros per month.
For freelancers, it is necessary to have a written contract or proposal from a service provider. This Visa allows you to stay in Portugal for one year, but there is the possibility of extending the validity for up to 5 more years.
Job Search Visa
This type of Visa allows you to be in the country for 4 months while looking for work. If not achieved, the deadline can be extended for 2 more months. It only allows working in a dependency relationship. A requirement to apply is to have a return ticket, health insurance, have at least 3 Portuguese minimum wages in the bank account (2,280 euros) and proof of accommodation.
ETIAS: Permit to travel to Europe
The ETIAS (European Travel Information and Authorization System) is a mandatory permit for all citizens who are not part of the Schengen Area and want to visit the country for a maximum of 90 days.
