In the midst of the strong dispute with the universities over the definancing of the sector, the Ministry of Human Capital and the unions of non-teaching workers signed the joint agreement to activate the salary guarantee that raises the floor of the salaries. The signing of the new agreement took place this afternoon at the headquarters of the portfolio that leads Sandra Pettovello, in the Sarmiento Palace, with the authorities of the Ministry of Education and the Argentine Federation of Workers of National Universities (FATUN).
The meeting was headed by the Secretary of Education of the Nation, Carlos Torrendell, and the Undersecretary of University Policies, Alejandro Alvarez, hours after having gone to the Chamber of Deputies to explain the financing of the sector for next year, estimated in the 2025 Budget.
According to a ministerial statement, the guarantee “will be activated from October” for workers in categories six and seven of non-teaching university employees. And it is stipulated “a sum of 100 thousand pesos and 180 thousand pesos respectively.”

“This measure allowed the university salary to reach levels equivalent to the National Public Employment System (SINEP),” which covers administrative and professional employees within the National Public Administration. “At the same time, the Teaching Salary Guarantee was activated for the lowest categories contemplated within the teaching scale,” they noted.
