Actor Leonardo DiCaprio made a clear statement shortly before the US election and revealed who he was voting for.
Leonardo DiCaprio (49) will vote for Kamala Harris (60) in the US presidential election. The Oscar winner announced his support for the Democratic nominee on Friday (October 25).
“That’s why I’m voting for Kamala Harris”
“Climate change is killing the earth and ruining our economy. We need a bold step forward to save our economy, our planet and ourselves,” DiCaprio said in the video. “That’s why I’m voting for Kamala Harris.”
Leonardo DiCaprio, who has long advocated for addressing the climate crisis, has supported Democratic candidates in the past. At the beginning of 2020, for example, he took part in a fundraising gala for US President Joe Biden (81).
Leonardo DiCaprio criticizes Donald Trump
In the new clip, Leonardo DiCaprio also criticized the fact that Kamala Harris’ challenger Donald Trump (78) had withdrawn the United States from the Paris climate agreement and withdrawn “important environmental protection measures”. Trump, the Hollywood star continued, “continues to deny the facts” and “deny the science.”
Kamala Harris is supported by many celebrities, including Taylor Swift (34), Oprah Winfrey (70), Meryl Streep (75), Bruce Springsteen (75) and George Clooney (63) who spoke out for the Democratic presidential candidate. Beyoncé (43) also just appeared with Kamala Harris at a campaign event in Houston, Texas. The singer explained: “I’m not here as a celebrity. I’m not here as a politician. I’m here as a mother, a mother who cares about the world in which our children live…”
Prominent supporters of Republican candidate Donald Trump include Elon Musk (53), Dennis Quaid (70), Roseanne Barr (71) and Kid Rock (53).
