Great Britain’s King Charles III has completed his first major trip abroad since being diagnosed with cancer. Now the palace is giving an update that some see as a good sign.
Great Britain’s King Charles III should travel more again next year. The monarch (75) has just completed his first major trip abroad since his cancer diagnosis – he visited Australia and the Pacific island state of Samoa with his wife Queen Camilla (77).
Next year he should resume his usual overseas travel schedule, the British news agency PA reported. Charles should travel in both spring and fall, provided his doctors approve it.
“We are working on a fairly normal-looking, full overseas travel program for next year,” PA quoted a Buckingham Palace official as saying. The trip was good for Charles’ spirit, mood and recovery.
Charles’ cancer
The palace did not provide an update on the king’s health or his treatment, the PA news agency reported. But the news that he should travel more suggests that his cancer is being successfully treated.
The palace made the unspecified cancer public in February. There were also smaller protests in Australia on the Pacific trip – an indigenous senator shouted in parliament: “You are not my king!”
