With the support of his wife Melania, Donald Trump held a campaign rally at Madison Square Garden.
The upcoming US elections are only about a week away. Nevertheless, the former First Lady Melania Trump (54) has only now made her first appearance in the 2024 election campaign. At the large-scale event in Madison Square Garden in the heart of New York City, Melania and Donald Trump (78) appeared as a tight-knit, intimate unit – a sight that has not been seen often lately.
The two hugged each other on stage, including hugs and a few kisses. However, it wasn’t just about being there; Melania also took the floor and described her vision of the Big Apple of the future to the around 20,000 Trump supporters there. “New York City and America need the magic back that has shaped this city for generations,” said the 54-year-old. Whoever chooses her husband on November 5th will also choose security, prosperity and health,” she promises.
Melania Trump also launched a verbal attack against the current Biden/Harris team, but did so in a much more moderate manner than her husband. The past four years have been marked by “incompetence and failure,” she claims. Trump, on the other hand, wants to usher in “the greatest years in the history of our country.”
New York remains in Democratic hands
At least in New York, the Republicans are fighting a losing battle despite their impressive local campaign performance. The state has been a Democratic stronghold for decades; the Republicans last won the majority of votes there in 1984 – exactly 40 years ago. Current polls there also predict a clear victory for Kamala Harris (60) in the upcoming elections.
The polls for the entire elections look much tighter. In many of the key swing states, such as Pennsylvania and Georgia, Trump and Harris are almost tied. In the end, one of the two must have 270 of the 538 so-called “Electoral Votes” on their side in order to move into the White House.
