Through a series of provisions, published this Monday in the Official Gazette, the agency warned citizens about “illegal” products that do not comply with the corresponding health records.
The National Administration of Drugs, Foods and Medical Technology (ANMAT) issued a resolution that vetoes the use, marketing and distribution of extra virgin olive oil “Oliva Atuelen”, bee honey “Serranias de Zenta” and various children’s cosmetics throughout the countrybecause the products lack registration with the regulatory entity.

On the other hand, provision 9410/2024 of the Anmat prohibits the sale and distribution of honey under the name “Miel de bees, Serranías de Zenta brand”. The measure was adopted after the Superior Provincial Bromatology Unit (SUNIBROM) of Jujuy detected the marketing of this product without the corresponding health authorizations.

The report revealed that the honey did not comply with current food regulations and that, despite appearing to have valid registrations, it was an illegal product. After receiving a private complaint, it was confirmed that the product was not authorized, which is why the provincial food authorities were notified to take action.

Extra virgin olive “Oliva Atuelen”
First of all, the provision 9409/2024published in the Official Gazette, establishes the prohibition of an olive oil identified as “Extra virgin olive oil – First cold pressed, Oliva Atuel brand”. According to Anmat, this product lacks the mandatory health documentation, in addition to including non-existent registration numbers on its labeling. The measure was taken after a consultation with the National Food Institute (INAL), which confirmed that neither the National Establishment Registry (RNE) nor the Provincial Food Product Registry (RPPA) indicated on the packaging are legitimate.
The verification carried out through the Federal Information System for Food Control Management (SiFeGA) confirmed that it is not possible to identify the oil clearly and precisely, which represents a risk to public health. For this reason, Anmat extended the ban to any other product that uses the false registration numbers mentioned.
Suspension of cosmetics for children due to lack of health control
Finally, provision 9412/2024 issued by Anmat prohibits the use, marketing and distribution of a series of cosmetics aimed at children. This decision was made after a series of inspections carried out by the Department of Home Sanitary, Cosmetics and Personal Hygiene Products in the Autonomous City of Buenos Aires (CABA), which detected labeling failures and absence of health records.
Affected products include:
- MAKE UP SET PARTY QUEEN – Imported by Berkma SA
- CREATIVE MAKE UP FASHION TIPS COSMETICS – Imported by Poka SA
- ICE PRINCESS HAND CREAM SET – Kaliya Beauty Brand.
- COLOR PALETTE FACE & BODY PAINTING KIT – Favorbeauty Brand.

In several children’s cosmetics they detected flaws in labeling and absence of health records.
The inspections revealed that there was no prior authorization for importers, which implies a lack of guarantees regarding the hygienic-sanitary conditions of these cosmetics, as well as the ingredients used. The Anmat ordered a total ban on these products, including their sale and advertising, in order to protect consumers, especially children, from the risks they may entail.
