Markus Söder is a big space fan. At least on Instagram and X he is already reaching for the stars – with his format “Söderspace”.
The Bavarian Prime Minister has often stated that Markus Söder (57) is an ardent hobby astronaut and space fan. In 2018, he caused a stir with his Bavarian space program “Bavaria One – Mission Future”. At least on his official Instagram and wants.
“Space, the final frontier,” Söder quotes the famous sentence from “Star Trek” at the beginning of the clip. Like many people, he grew up with a fascination for space thanks to the US series and became a “space fan”.
“Bayern, we are the solution”
He announces “Söderspace” with the following words: “We are embarking on a journey into space. […] We start with the rocket and leave our planet, so to speak, take off.” In the approximately three-minute clip and thanks to the power of trick technology, he even floats above the earth in an astronaut suit. Who knows what could await us beneath the surface of Mars “I find it totally fascinating,” enthuses Söder. In the individual episodes he wants to “go to different stations in our solar system” and show what might be possible.
At the beginning of the year, Söder signed an agreement with the ESA (European Space Agency) according to which the Columbus control center in Oberpfaffenhofen would “develop into the new lunar control center.” This means that the Free State will play an important role in new moon and Mars missions in the future. “If you later hear the sentence: ‘Houston, we have a problem’, then it will be complemented by: ‘Bayern, we are the solution’.”
