Zoë Kravitz: Why doesn’t love work out?

Over and over? Channing Tatum (44) and Zoë Kravitz (35) are said to have separated after three years together despite their engagement. The news of the breakup of the apparent Hollywood dream couple comes as quite a surprise.

However, within her family, the 35-year-old actress and director is not alone in her love misfortune. Her parents Lenny Kravitz (60) and Lisa Bonet (56) also seem to be permanently unlucky with their partnerships.

Little to nothing is currently known about the background to the sudden separation. Apparently planning their wedding together was anything but a walk in the park, as the daughter of rock musician Lenny Kravitz suggested in an interview in August.

She was asked by the US magazine “People” whether it was more difficult to make a film or plan a wedding. Her answer a few months ago was: “For most people it’s probably a movie, but I approach everything with the same psychosis and intensity. So I would say it’s equivalent.”

Channing Tatum stars in one of the leading roles in her directorial debut, “Blink Twice.” He told People about filming: “It was so difficult to make this film. Maybe one of the most difficult films I’ve worked on… for many different reasons.” In this conversation, he also emphasized that working together had strengthened their connection as a couple.

Kravitz and Tatum have been a couple since 2021. According to US media reports, they got engaged at the end of 2023. The two made their public red carpet debut as a couple at the premiere of “Blink Twice” at the beginning of August this year.

Both Zoë Kravitz and Channing Tatum are already married. Tatum was married to actress Jenna Dewan (43) from 2009 to 2019, with whom he also has daughter Everly (10). Zoë Kravitz was married to actor Karl Glusman (36) from 2019 to 2021.

Zoë Kravitz is a child of divorce. In 1993, her parents Lenny Kravitz and Lisa Bonet divorced. The rock star and the actress had been married for around six years.

Afterwards, Lenny Kravitz in particular made headlines with numerous relationships with other prominent women – among others, he was linked to Nicole Kidman (57), Adriana Lima (43) and Kylie Minogue (56).

After a phase as a “womanizer” – as he described himself in an interview with “CBS Sunday Mornings” in 2008, a radical change followed. Kravitz made the decision to be celibate until he found the right woman. “This is a vow I made three years ago,” Kravitz said at the time.

In May 2024, he spoke about his love life again. Kravitz revealed that he had been waiting for true love for nine years. He continues to stick to his abstinence; it is a “spiritual concern” for him, said the 60-year-old. It is not known whether he is currently in a relationship.

To celebrate his big birthday, he appeared loudly accompanied by an unknown woman. He previously stated in February that he still had “love” for his ex-wife Lisa Bonet. She is a part of his life that will never leave his heart, soul and spirit.

Lisa Bonet quickly found true love again after her separation from Lenny Kravitz. From 2005 she was in a relationship with fellow actor Jason Momoa (45). The two crowned their partnership with two children together, daughter Lola (17) and son Nakoa-Wolf (15), as well as a promise of marriage. For 16 years, the two were considered one of Hollywood’s enduring dream couples and an exemplary patchwork family – including male friendship between Kravitz and Momoa.

But at the beginning of 2022 they shocked fans with their separation. However, Bonet did not file for divorce until two years later, in January 2024. The reason, as so often, is “irreconcilable differences”. The divorce was uneventful and went smoothly with shared custody of the children. While Jason Momoa is said to be married again – supposedly to his actress colleague Adria Ajona (32) – little is heard about Lisa Bonet’s relationship status.
