What the first reviews say about “Song of a lost wordl” by The Cure

The first reviews have been very positive, such as that of The Guardian newspaper, which considered that “Songs of a Lost World” is the group’s best album since “Disintegration” in 1989.

“The group is at its artistic peak: melancholic and soulful, with a percussive sound that matches the emotional impact of the lyrics,” the newspaper writes.

In “Songs of a lost world”, Robert Smith sings about melancholy, talks about death and subsequent grief.

“Unfortunately, death is more present every day. When you’re younger, you romanticize it. Then it starts happening to your family and friends and it’s a different story,” Robert Smith told the BBC before the album’s release.

“It lasts about 50 minutes and you end up in a different place than where you started. I hope people respond,” added Smith, in another interview posted on the band’s YouTube page.

The Cure had not released an album since 2008, with ‘4.3 Dream’.

“To say it was long-awaited doesn’t begin to do The Cure’s new album justice. Songs of a Lost World is an album that has been promised, rumored, offered, teased, longed for, and imagined.. The band’s fans have spent 16 years lighting candles and praying for this work,” states the prestigious music magazine ‘RollingStone’.

The group, formed in 1976 in Crawley, southern England, which has sold more than 30 million albums worldwide, continues to fill halls and stadiums.

In July 2018, The Cure celebrated their forty-year career with a concert in Hyde Park, London, before 65,000 people.
