In the message titled “No place for authoritarian government”the CGT claimed socio-labor rights, respect for freedom of association and collective bargaining, “as well as the defense of the purchasing power of salaries and pensions”.
The National Constitution, together with regulations of the International Labor Organization (ILO) and the Law of Trade Union Associations “empower trade union organizations to defend the interests and rights of all workers, with the clear objective of guaranteeing decent work”, they assured. “We repudiate and condemn the actions of the National Government against union leaders,” they closed.
