Anna Kendrick donated her film salary from the film “Woman of the Hour.” She described it as “the least I could do.”
Anna Kendrick (39) has donated her earnings from her directorial debut “Woman of the Hour” to two charities. As she made public, her salary went to the Rape, Abuse & Incest National Network (RAINN) and the National Center for Victims of Violent Crime. The non-profit organizations advocate for those affected by sexual abuse and violence.
“It was the least I could do,” said Kendrick, who also worked as a producer on the true crime film about a serial killer. “It was never a project for me that I wanted to make money from,” she explained. However, she only realized that the film would make money shortly before its premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival. “I asked myself the question: ‘Does this make you feel disgusting?’ And I did,” Kendrick added.
Organization thanked for the donation
That’s why the “Pitch Perfect” actress donated her share of the proceeds to a good cause. “It was the least I could do,” she said of the donation. RAINN founder Scott Berkowitz thanked them for this in a statement. “We are so grateful to Anna Kendrick for her support of RAINN and all survivors and for being a compassionate storyteller when it comes to raising awareness about sexual violence,” the magazine quoted the statement as saying.
“Woman of the Hour” tells the story of the American serial killer Rodney Alcala (1943-2021) and Sheryl Bradshaw, who meet on a dating show in the 1970s. When Bradhsaw (Kendrick) chooses Alcala (Daniel Zovatto, 33), she knows nothing about his actions. The Netflix thriller follows the story of the murderer Alcala, known as the “Dating Game Killer”. He died in July 2021 at the age of 77.
